Game of Death

Nope, it's not a comic book version of the 1978 Bruce Lee film of the same name-- it's the final story from Tales of Horror #5 (1953.) This entire issue is now posted here at THOIA, and fyi: we should have another complete issue or two for you before the month is out!

Don't forget to head over to Karswell's other blog too where all month long he'll be featuring festive frights for this Halloween season-- today, it's a minor spoof of Famous Monsters of Filmland, plus other gruesome gags:

Am I missing the point wondering how Talchev went more than once in a row? Or does the writer here not know how to play chess?

Interesting story! I also really liked that close-up of the eye on one of the panels.

The eye that Diandra mentioned looks absolutely Ditko-esque, as does the killing of La Paz's king.

I have this story in an old comic by Ajax, and it has always been one of my favorites.

Anyone want to guess the artist? Looks like Ross andru to me... especially the second panel on page one and the single eye panel on page three...
